Still edible, but not something I would want to show off. I'll have to eat them all myself. And recalibrate my thermometer. If you ever inadvertently cook caramels rock hard, don't throw them away! Break into pieces, microwave with some butter (maybe 2 T for every 1/2 C of candy) and pour over hot, popped corn. It tastes good and feels a lot better than throwing away all those ingredients.
