Chocolate covered pretzels are another one of my favorite treats. It’s the whole salty chocolate thing that gets me every time. Since I was already melting chocolate for the buckeyes I thought I’d get more bang for my buck and toss a few pretzels in there. These little treats take very little effort (especially if you’ve already got the chocolate melted) and are just plain tasty.
So seriously, just melt some chocolate over a double boiler and toss a few pretzels in it. Make sure they’re coated, let the excess chocolate drip off, and tadaa, you’re done. Of course, being in the holiday spirit, I sprinkled some crushed peppermint bits over top.
chocolate peppermint pretzels
1 bag dark chocolate chips
1 bag mini salted pretzels (you won’t need the whole thing)
a few candy canes, crushed*
Line a baking sheet with parchment and set aside.
1
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler.
2
Drop a few pretzels in the chocolate, turning to make sure they’re entirely coated. Using a fork, lift each pretzel out of the chocolate and let any excess chocolate drip off. Place pretzel on parchment lined baking sheet and continue with remaining pretzels.
3
Sprinkle crushed peppermint over each pretzel.
4
Place in the refrigerator or freezer for at least a half hour to let the chocolate harden.
These can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
*The food processor works great to chop up the candy canes, but you can also use a hammer or rolling pin.

Another idea stolen from Mom, who got this gift from one of her pupils: square pretzels topped with a dab of white chocolate with a hint of peppermint flavor, and then garnished with an m&m. Sweet, salty, bite sized. Dangerous!
BTW, I got the RQ for my mom — all wrapped up so cute! It is the perfect gift.

They have something like this at Trader Joes, with flat pretzels and white chocolate. So good. Thanks for inspiring me to make them myself!
